Palm Sunday

MUSIC

We are blessed as a Parish to have an enthusiastic group of twenty children who make up the Templebreedy Children’s Choir. With their distinctive and angelic robes made by parishioner Elsie Gash they contribute so much to our worship. Directed and inspired by our organist Carmel O’Shea they lead our musical worship twice a month and on the major festivals. We are very proud of them and their willingness to devote so much time and energy to our worship of God. They meet each week for a practice and as well as preparing for Sunday they participate in the Royal School of Church Music’s Voice for Life programme.

While the Templebreedy Children's Choir lead the singing in our services, congregational singing of the settings of the Eucharist along with the choir is a very important aspect of musical worship in Holy Trinity. We have experienced the most uplifting praise to God with a full church singing settings of the Gloria, Sanctus and Benedictus.
The choir have sung in two live Radio Broadcasts on RTE Radio 1 in 2005 and October 2007.
Stay tuned to hear live services from Holy Trinity on December 21st and Christmas Day.

CARMEL O'SHEA - CHURCH ORGANIST

Carmel studied the organ with Colin Nicholls and under his mentoring, she was UCC Organ Scholar at St Fin Barre’s Cathedral from 1997-2000 and Choral Scholar until 2008. She is the musical director of the Lismore Choir in Co. Waterford and is a member of the expert vocal ensemble Madrigal ‘75. Since coming to Holy Trinity, Crosshaven, Carmel has set up the Templebreedy Children’s Choir which is now composed of 20 children. The Children’s Choir lead the music at worship twice a month and as well as preparing for worship, they are participating in the Royal School of Church Music’s Voice for Life Programme. The Choir and parish are affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music.
Carmel, in conjunction with our Organ Consultant Mark Duley, is also very involved in the exciting project to provide a new Pipe Organ at Holy Trinity as part of the overall restoration of the Church building. She has attended masterclasses with the renowned organist Jacques Van Oortmerssen in Amsterdam in preparation for the new organ. We hope that the Organ will be in place by the Spring of 2009.
